Our Sports Apprenticeship Programme has set a new standard in youth empowerment, giving 15 ambitious young people, aged 15-18, a launchpad to transform their futures. Over the past months, these apprentices from Tower Hamlets and Brent have stepped into roles as coaches, mentors, and community leaders, leaving a powerful impact in their communities.
The programme’s focus on 64 hours of paid work, 1:1 mentorship, skill-building in leadership and confidence, and FA Level 1 coaching qualifications has equipped each participant with the tools to become a qualifed coach.
This programme empowered young people to develop valuable skills and earn an income while training to become coaches. Funded by London Youth, this initiative served as both an employment opportunity and a steppingstone toward their future careers.
"I never imagined I could be a coach at my age," shared Aliyah, age 17. "Being paid for my work and recognised for my efforts made me feel truly valued. Now, with my coaching qualifications, I’m officially able to coach football in my borough—it’s a huge step forward for me. This programme didn’t just give me skills; it gave me confidence and a real sense of belonging in my community. I can’t wait to start making a difference on and off the pitch!"
