Beyond the Bias, in Partnership with Wapping Youth FC and Wapping the in Community, invited 12 young people to partake in a 3-day residential exploring camping life, engaging in nature activities and watching the commonwealth cricket finals.
The residential, organised by Street Games, offered activities such as laser tag, sky swinging, swimming and zorb ball to name a few!
With over 50 applications, these young people (aged 16-22) were chosen by the youth board as the most trailblazing and innovative individuals. We had no doubt that they could tackle any obstacle coming their way. From Tower Hamlets, Barent, Harrow and Newham, they represented us and London when competing in challenges against those from Glasgow, Cardiff, Manchester and more.
After a weekend of sleeping in a tent, we visited the Edgbaston Stadium, which held the commonwealth cricket finals. Maj, aged 19 said “It was a surreal experience watching England vs Indian play, I never would have thought I could watch a once in a life time game LIVE”
“It truly was incredible and we are very thankful to Street Games for providing us with this opportunity.” said Maryam, Director of Beyond the Bias.
From camping to swimming, our young people experienced a true sense of belonging in the natural world and celebrated their accomplishments in style at the commonwealth cricket final.
