Tower Hamlets : Cost of Living Project

Our Beyond the Change Cost of Living Project was launched as a rapid and compassionate response to the severe energy crisis impacting Tower Hamlets and surrounding areas. Recognising the urgent need for warmth, comfort, and support during this difficult time, we created 30 thoughtfully curated care packages filled with essential items, including energy-efficient oil heaters, cosy blankets, Love2Shop vouchers, thermal socks, gloves, and hot chocolate for a comforting treat. These items were carefully chosen to provide warmth and ease the financial strain faced by vulnerable households during the cold winter months.

To ensure the care packs reached those who truly needed them, we invited community members to anonymously nominate individuals and families facing hardship. Our incredible team of volunteers, personally delivered each pack, bringing warmth and a sense of care to every doorstep.

“When we received the care pack, it felt like someone truly cared,”_ shared Sameera, age 14. “This winter is going to be a little easier thanks to Beyond the Bias.”

With a staggering 300x more nominations than packages available, the overwhelming demand underscores the depth of need within our community. We urgently call on funders, local councils, and organisations to join us in this essential work.
